I would do what the contractor recommends. Why would add something that is not needed. Only my thoughts. All my tile floors are mudded on to a slab. Twenty years plus.

I agree with thiggy. He mentioned a number of good ideas. The book I like is ‘the ROUTER’ by Robert R. Rosendahl. It contains the basic. Good Routing, they are a lot of fun to use.

Kyle, It appears that your older TV is not capable of getting cable TV. Does it have a TV/cable mode, if it does it needs to be set to cable mode. If not you will need a converter box. In that case it is cheaper to just buy an inexpensive TV. I went to that route also and it wasn’t worth the trouble. HTH

I agree, I have tried the search myself and have never gotten much of a answer to my problem. Nothing but ‘a lot ado ’bout nothing’ Send an E-mail to the webmaster. I think their E-mail address is ‘webmaster@discussions.tommmymac.us’, they have always responded quickly. HTH

I am puttimg a disclaimer on this, but asbestos siding is pretty much safe to work with, the danger is messing around with the loose fiber kind. I live in the west coast and they don’t oppose it but N.Y. can be very nasty about doing the work yourself. Check with your AHJ. I am not being a prophet of doom, yes you can doit yourself but check on the regulations in your state.

You might also have a partially clogged vent stack pipe. Make sure that is also clear.

Try the website www3.sears.com. I looked at it and saw the handwheel for raising and lowering the saw-blade. It was approx. $16.49 + s/h. You might look and see if that is what you are talking about. I was surprised because it is sometimes hard to find replacementparts from Sears. HTH

If it wwas me, I would go to my AHJ(authority having juridition), the place where you get building permits. Tell them what you plan to do, I have found them very helpful and they will tell you what you need to do to get started.

Your homeowne’s insurance will cover them but you cannot expect Sears to replace them. You do have homeower’s insurance, don’t you.

That question has been asked a number of times over the years on this forum. Nobody has been able to find a source of plans. The only thing you can do is rent one.

I would check with your AHJ first. In some areas converting a garage to a bedroom is not allowed. When I lived in CA, my neighbor across the street, converted his garage to a bedroom. To keep a long story short, the building inspector found out about it and made him to convert it back to a garage. The guy lost alot of money in the process. Better safe than sorry.
