I have a really old Samsung (TBX1940) TV in my dorm and im having issues watching cable with it, the TV shows 2-13 fine but above that is static. The TV is about 10-12 years old at least so i obviously dont have the original remote, i have a phillips Universal remote that does not have an auto-programming button or anything about auto programming in its manual. any help is appreciated.

Kyle, It appears that your older TV is not capable of getting cable TV. Does it have a TV/cable mode, if it does it needs to be set to cable mode. If not you will need a converter box. In that case it is cheaper to just buy an inexpensive TV. I went to that route also and it wasn’t worth the trouble. HTH
