We have a approx. 1300 sq. ft. home, with 3 bedrooms, but we also have 3 kids. We need to add another bedroom on, but I have no idea where to start!! or how much it might cost.. My husband can do the work, but I need some idea of where to begin..

If it wwas me, I would go to my AHJ(authority having juridition), the place where you get building permits. Tell them what you plan to do, I have found them very helpful and they will tell you what you need to do to get started.
