ParticipantI agree with LarryG, One pair of wires is a switch loop. It could be that one of the white wires is a hot switched circuit. I drew it on a piece of paper but don’t know your physical setup. You will need a VOM to find out what is switched hot.

ParticipantThiggy, if I remember correctly, Arborite is a composite type of material used in laboratory workbenches, not sure. I think that you need carbide tools to work with it. That the extent of my knowledge.

ParticipantI sometime do furniture repair among other things and I find that two feet in width is to small. I made my 3 feet and it works well. You cannot put a chair for repairs on a two foot width workbench. JMHO

ParticipantHolly, I would not use any of those products. They are good for what they are intended for but no in this case. I would go to your friendly hardware store/Home Depot, etc. I would buy a gallon of mineral spirit(paint thinner) and a quart of acetone. Make sure the area is will ventilated, I would rub it down with the mineral spirit and most it should come off. After that is done, Put some acetone on a rag and do a final wiping. Acetone is very volitale and must no be used around flames. Doctor use it to clean wounds. After that is done, continue cleaning with you other products. HTH

ParticipantI am not sure exactly what you want but will take a guess. On a This Old House episode, they repaired a sill by using an epoxy compound. They didn’t name a brand but if you go to this website.
you will find such a product. You can purchase it online.

ParticipantLarryG, I really never paid much attention what was in the chart. I found the URL,for the site, in my notes. If I remembered somebody asked a similiar question about a year ago and it just raised a red flag. I would have quessed that its R-value would has been zero, also.

ParticipantYou usually skim coat it with drt wall compound. Use a large dry wall knife and apply some dry wall compound to the spot that you want to fill. Let it set overnight and then sand any high spots.

ParticipantIs the vent stack(pipe) plugged.? This could cause the problem. As the odor has no place to go, it might need to be snaked out. Is the P-trap holding water? This could also be your problem. Pouring bleach in the sink won’t hurt and might help.
