If it was me and I didn’t have my tile saw I would ask Home Depot to cut the tile I need. Where I live I believe they dont charge for a few if you buy them there. But it sure would be worth asking.

As is travertine has holes. These holes are filled with a cementious material at the factory. Travertine does wear so the holes will continue to emerge over time. Call a marble & stone restoration professional and ask
them to come out and give you a consultation. The fee charged is probably well worth the knowledge received.

You may want to open your hot water heater and drain some of that sand ect out of the bottom..

I would say to check the screens on faucets and maybe the valves in toilets are cloged with muck as you may have to replace them. Maybe your well is just a point and you started to run out of water. I would take maybe a peeksee at my well to see if it is deep enough. Im sure there are going to be more thoughts so stay tuned. As there are some pretty darn sharp people here.

I’m thinking maybe all he has to do is try and tighten the nut behind the handle a little. If it’s the shutoff valve that is leaking a little behind the handle. Maybe just a little tighting is all it needs.

For my model, you need to press the green button on the gearbox beside the adjustment controls then, within 10 seconds, enter the new code on the keypad and then press enter. maybe press twice

In reply to painting a laminate counter top by Debbie on January 18th, 2004 06:27 PM [Go to top of thread]

Painting regular laminate is really one of the easiest surfaces to cover. All you will require is some sandpaper (about 80 to 120 grit), trisodiumphosphate (TSP), a high-density foam roller and tray and Melamine Paint.

First, you need to sand the laminate surface. This may require a little elbow grease to really remove the gloss of the laminate but it is worth the time it takes to do this as it is integral to long term paint adhesion. Once the surface has been well sanded, wash with TSP, which is a detergent that you mix with water and is good for removing gloss and grease from surfaces (be sure to where gloves when handling TSP). Once you have washed the surface rinse thoroughly with clear water and allow the laminate surface to dry completely.

Melamine Paint is a relatively new paint product designed to cover laminate surfaces. It is an oil paint with urethane reinforcement so it does not need a coat of urethane applied on top once it is dry. Melamine creates a hard and durable paint surface but it best to be applied in three thin coats rather than one thick coat. The high-density foam roller is an ideal way to apply Melamine as it will not roll bubbles into the paint so the surface appears smooth and even. For vertical surfaces like cabinet doors, it is best if you remove them and place them on a horizontal surface while painting. For high-traffic counter tops I recommend creating a granite or speckled look with several colours of Melamine applied using a sea sponge. This will help hide any marks or dings that end up on the surface.

Be sure to allow the Melamine to completely cure before you put anything heavy on it as this may mark your painted finish. Curing takes around six days.

Whenever I have to replace tile I just put em in a bucket of water with a little liquid soap and let them soak overnight and clean em up the next day. You may have to take a putty knife to them but it’s really not all that bad.

the key for asbestos is to not let any fibers get loose from drilling ,breaking ect. If you must do one of these be sure to spray it down as to not let any of the fibers in the air. Dispose of propery too ,keeping wet as you do it and wearing a respeator mask.

BeforeI did too much with plumbing i would take a 5 gallon bucket of water and pour it in shower and walk in it to see if it or drain leaks. if not– its the pipes..It could be broken fitting -fitting that wasn’t soldered well to begin with..some people get loose handles and don’t seem to want to tighten them up and keep jerking on them all the time. That will break things..appt owners will testify to that. I would look at leaky shower floor and drain first tho then pipes.

The idea is to get the old glazing warm not to melt it off..If it gets warm it will mostly come off. I would us glazing to reinstall the window too

I think what I would do is either remove the radiator or shut it off and install a baseboard heater in another part of kitchen. They are easy to install and look pretty nice too.

Maybe a motion detector light would deter the scoundrels.
