Hi. We are installing countertops and cabinets in our kitchen. The steam radiator (20 inches long by 25 inches tall) is in a location where we would like to put a counter.

Is it a bad idea to put a surface over the radiator?
If we want to puta laminate counter top there, how far should it be from the radiator? Can you recommend an insulation/deflection technique that would protect the countertop?
How far should the cabines be from the end of the radiator?

      Thanks for your help.

I think what I would do is either remove the radiator or shut it off and install a baseboard heater in another part of kitchen. They are easy to install and look pretty nice too.
