however you may be able to get some relief from your local govt for allowing the development to be built w/drainage defects such as you experience.

failing that, lawn swales may redirect the runoff,,, just be sure you’ve got them properly lined w/soil erosion fabric & rock rubble so you won’t experience scour,,, the usual way to accomplish redirection is to place the collecting swales at an oblique angle to cascading water ( for best results,,, in effect, you’d be constructing a LARGE french drain but we americans call ’em drainage ditches, tho 😉

that’s why you’re a moderator & also smart enough not to be a terrazzo restorer 😉 that work’s a specialty – even equipment.

weight ( loads ),,, notwithstanding this tub’s 2x as large, it also seats more & the occupants movement will ‘ load ‘ the tub laterally/vertically more than if they sat still,,, IF you undersupport the tub intentionally & there’s a problem, i’d hate to think you’re empty-handed when your ins co sez ‘ show me the stamped prints ‘ & the contractor’s license,,, this isn’t anything i’d bet our home on – then again, its yours !

sanitred or something like that,,, if its a tub, you may get some callouses on your hiney but its lots better’n ruining the floor,,, ‘sides, its only temporary til you can get a pro ( plumber or tile guy ) in to fix the trouble.

is finding the equip to do the work properly,,, bug/nail holes aren’t a problems if you have the experience.

might start w/franmar’s beanee-doo, lo-speed buffer, & black pad – see what happens,,, at least you can rent the buffer.

that will perform as you ask since all cracks should be repaired as nec/rqd,,, repointing should also be done if necessary,,, we use silicone siloxane on vert conc/stone/brick w/brands of choice being prosoco or sonneborn,,, neither are sold by apron stores, tho.

& we have trained/licensed installer/artisans in every state,,, that doesn’t mean you’ll find a guy w/i 10 min if you’re out in the hills, tho.

while eliteCrete doesn’t need me extolling their virtues, i’m sure there are other people in the dec conc o’lay field who are also competent.

send your pics & location – we’ll try to help

already gave you my suggestions,,, both are decent materials altho we don’t use them,,, as i read your posts, perhaps you have a different objective in mind,,, do you have high radon test results ?

on the parts where the stain didn’t react & that’s not uncommon especially if the guy wasn’t experienced & cognizant,,, ‘wearing off’ suggests the stain wasn’t allowed enough time to react,,, new/fresh conc is never a good subject for staining so that’s out for a reason.

rust stains are difficult to remove as you’ve discovered,,, too bad he couldn’t have invested an hr applying plastic – failing that, the helper could have held cardboard sheeting as a shield,,, ‘splash’ tells me his sprayer wasn’t fitted w/cone nozzle,,, kemico stain ?

btw, job’s not a loss & can still be saved.

& go ahead w/whatever we’re doing,,, look to prosoco, sonneborn, or euclid for decent sealers,,, btw, apply sealer to ONLY dry surfaces.

we don’t buy anything from apron stores other’n pvc pipe if we’re in a pinch,,, look to a good const supply house

satisfactory for that period of time &, w/o proper prep, even a coating wouldn’t maintain adhesion,,, not knowing how your ersatz contractor finished the work, its impossible to suggest anything.

that being said, if it were our home, we’d grind off the existing sealer even tho there’d be some color showing,,, then i’d find someone who specializes in polymer-modified concrete overlay work such as ME 🙂 we use eliteCrete exclusively for our dec conc work,,, try posting your problem on concretelocator.com & see what happens.

also try decorativeconcreteforums.com,,, we’ll look for you at either altho you’ll find more & better qualified artisans on conclocator imo.

would like to see some pics – can you send ’em to me ?

    good luck !

    ps – for a budget #, try $5sf & see what happens

vinegar – that’s also an acid,,, just use it full strength & don’t bother investing in the balsamic – that’s for salads 😉

cut 1:8 w/wtr & apply w/garden sprinkler,,, when the fizzing stops, its etched,,, neutralize w/plain ammonia, again 1:8 wtr, & rinse a couple times w/wet-dry vac,,, ventilation’s important as is a full-face organic filter mask IF fumes bother you.

caution – we do this work for a living.

so the house’s settled,,, why would you use conc unless you’re underpinning the footer ? self-leveling isn’t the right material,,, IF you’re trying to raise a sunken d/w, mudjacking MAY work depending on the flexural strength of the existing conc.

usually, steps need excavation & jacking w/hydraulic of mechanical jacks THEN underpin them.

regrading will redirect lawn-level water but it will NOT stop lower-level penetration,,, that needs full-depth excavation, waterproofing, & a toe drain running to daylight.
