a trick to help soldering when ther is moisture in the pipes is to use a piece of white bread without the crust, make balls slightly larger than the opening in the pipes. push a ball into the pipe several inches to act as a stopper for the water. after solder re[pair, turn on the water, open faucets and the bread will be pushed out of the system by the water preasure.
    it works for me.

with the disposal, you will ned to clean more often than without the disposal. how often cleanout is needed with depend on how much garbage goes thru the disposal. the disposal is intended to grind the food particals that accumalate during washing of dishes and cooking utensils, and not to get rid of all the waste from food preparations. wast from food preparations needs to be put into the garbage can.

like Lonny, I soak in water, but use hot water to speed teh process. for cement or thinset, use an angle grinder with a masonery disk as diamond is for use on hardened steel such as drill bits

Check the cable that has been run to the shed. It should have a GRAY sheath which indicates underground approved cable. if previous owner ran any other color sheath cable, it has probably deteriorated and causing the problem. I would suggest that you run a new cable using either 12 gauge with 20 amp breaker of 10 gauge with 30 amp breaker. if you have room in the breaker box, run 220 volt by using 3 conductor + ground. in the shed, install a small breaker box with 2 breakers, use one leg for the lights and the other for the outlets. with separate circuits, if you trip with an outlet, you still have lights to see by at night.

ebay search for “dowel jig” shows jigs by stanley and sears. a web search brings up many hits and shows currently available ones.
I have an older Stanley #59 that was purchased at a garage sale. Stanley no longer catalogues their #59 doweling jig.

any home center or hardware store should have it. it is a liquid with a dauber to put it on with. it is better than using soap as there are no bubbles unless there is a leak. also, it is slightly sticky and does nor run off or evaporate as fast as soap and water. then of course, there is the electronic tester as used by the gas companies, but they are a lot more expensive than you wouold want to pay for a one time test.

shut off the gas at the meter. remove the shut off valve from the iron pipe using 2 wrenches, one on the pipe and one on the valve. install an iron pipe cap using pipe dope on the iron pipe, again using 2 wrenches. Turn on the gas and check the cap with leak detector for any leaks. I am recommending this method as in the future, you may want to go back to gas, or if you sell, the new owner may want gas.

an oxy acetylene torch is not very usefull on cast as it burns rather than melts the material preventing using the blow as in cutting steel. the best method is to use a saws-all with a course tooth metal cutting blade ran at slow speed and cooled with cutting oil. this would be very messy in a bathroom enviornment. I have found that a 8 pound hammer and a masons chisel works good as the chisel concentrates the force causing a stress crack to form in the cast. use an old chisel as the cast will dull a sharp chisel. in my opinion, breaking is the fastest way to go.
