Hi, You dont need the stip the varnish off but you have to give it a light sand for the paint to stick then use 2 coat sof water based under coat, then 2 to 3 coats of top coat. Before you paint fill in any holes in the panels with timber filler. You mentioned your timber was tongue and groove, when you paint you are going to see the joins. What I think would look good to paint your timber is use suede effects paints or somthing like that. Regards Noelene

Hi, try to remove all of the rust you can with rust remover and sand it if you can. Then use kill rust primmer paint for the first coat then two coats of oil based paint. Don’t use water based paint because the rust will come through the paint after a couple of days, and the the oil based paint will be fine near food but it takes a while to dry.

Hi a good colour to use on your ceiling is light blue, it gives to illusion of being out side under the blue sky and if you want to have a bit of fun with it paint in some clouds on your ceiling. Or what thiggy suggested sounds good but if you can put in a few low voltage lights in your ceiling to give the illusion of night time. Regards Noelene

Hi again, I just thought of somthing. Have you checked your insurance policy, some policys cover things like that. years back friends of mine were given a kitten which used there brand new leather lounge to sharpen her paws and made a bit of a mess of there lounge. The insurance company paid them back all of there money they paid for it. Regards Noelene

Hi, There are people that do carpet repairs. Just look it up under Carpet Repairers and Restorers. They maybe able to help you. But it depends on how long the run is and if its on a seam. They can do what is called “invisable mending” or they can put a patch in the carpet where the run is. so if you have any spare carpet around they can use it. Even if it means taking some out of a cupbourd where you wont miss it. Hope this helps you out. Regards Noelene

Hi Joe, your bowl sounds to wonderful to put a hole in it to become a sink. I would be worried evertime I go to use it that it might get chipped or broken and if you move to another home you may have to leave it behind and never see it again. If I was you I would buy a new one that looks just like your 100 year old bowl, I have seen antique replicas around. But if you have your heart set on useing your bowl then get a professional to cut it. Try ringing some tile cutters and some places that sell tiles that have experts that can do the job.

You poor thing, don’t let this get you down and I know its easier said than done.

I did a google search and found Nafco site
and I read there warranty on your Crestview Plank. and it talks about taking care not to get scratches and you are right they are most likely to say it your fault.

What I think you should do and this is what I would do if I was you. Is carfully read the warranty and be ready with all the right answers. eg. you do not have furniture that could have caused the scratches, you do not walk on it with high heels or boots you do have a mat at the front door to wipe your feet, you tell them you keep it clean all the time and you use the right cleaning products to keep it clean.

So there is no way they can try to catch you out and try to blame you. If you don’t have a copy of your warranty I found it at http://www.nafco.com when you enter there site you will see on the right side a small blue box headed Documents click on the word “here” then click on warranty the scroll down to you see your flooring type.

Keep your chin up and don’t let this stress you out because you do have a 30 year warrenty and thats what its there for.

    Kind regards Noelene

Hi, all you have to do is spray WD-40 onto the tape residue and wait about a minute and wipe it off with a clean dry cloth. It works great and it won’t harm your floor. If you dont have WD-40 use some sewing machine oil. But WD-40 work easier.

Hi there is a good site to go to. http://www.repairclinic.com click on “repair help” then “washing machines” and the rest is easy to follow. By what I read it dose sound like the water inlet values. If you decide to replace them do it one at a time. The cold water inlet value is usually cheaper than the hot one. So try the cold one first.

When you get your new part make sure it has it seals on it. If it dosn’t buy one or remove the old seal off the old part. It is very important because when you turn the water back on the seal will prevent water getting into your control panel and the last thing you want is to replace that as well.

Hope this helps you out and don’t be affaid to give it a go. Regards Noelene

    Hi Angie,
I have just the thing for you to use. So forget sanding thats hard work. I too have a timber deck with no cover over it and it started to look terrible so I bought two containers of a product called “Reviver” it is made for timber to get it back to new and it wasn’t cheap. The active ingrediant is Oxalic Acid. It said mix with water 1 part reviver 4 part water.Well what a waste of money. I ended up pouring the stuff straight from the can on a small section of timber to see if that would work.It made know difference.

Then I had a brain wave. I first tryed it on a small section of my deck to see if it would work. It was fantastic, the timber came back better than new. When the deck was made there were back stains on some of the timber panels, it even cleaned the stains. All I used was good old Draino the active ingredient is “caustic soda” I bought it from the supermarket.
I disvoled the cristals in water in a plastic watering container and boured it over the deck a section at a time, useing a broom rubbed it in then hosed it off. You are going the be really impressed how great it works.

It goes without saying, you must where eye protection, long pants and footwear.
But dont use it if you have garden under your deck it will harm the plants.

    Regards Noelene
