    Hi,

The outlet that I am using to plug in the dishwasher works. The only problem is it’s a grounded two prong outlet and the dishwasher is a three prong. I am using an adapter that allows me to connect the dishwasher and there doesn’t seem to be any power..but I’m not sure how that can be tested without dragging the dishwasher to a three pronged outlet to see if that’s the problem. There are no lights on the dishwashers as indicators…but the manual does specify that once I change the knob to the desired cycle I should hear the cycles begin…and I don’t.

Everything is connected as far as I can tell.

Thanks for explaining what the red button does. I was a little confused as to why there wasn’t a great amount of water coming out of there when I turned the water back off from having it run for a few minutes. So how does the water after running (which unfortunately I haven’t been blessed to see at this point) drain?

I have checked for water in the dishwasher and there is no sight of any drops so I guess the problem maybe with the water fill valve.

I will take a look at the dishwasher tonight and get the model and serial number.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi DanO

I’ve asked my landlord to install a grounded three prong output as yes I agree it is a complete hazard and since the adapter isn’t securely in there I don’t feel comfortable with that situation. My question was more along the lines of if that was preventing the dishwasher from working. Sounds like it’s not…so that’s one thing to rule out.

When I press the red button with the water on, water comes out fine. Does this mean that the water is going through the dishwasher?. It’s odd because when I turn on the water for a great length of time I would think that once I turn the water off and press the red button that there would be the same amount of water coming out. Is that a bad assumption?
The water just seems to stop when I turn it on after a few seconds so that’s why I’m curious if there is even any water going through the pipes into the dishwasher.

I’m not sure what the model is, but here is the link to from Sears if that gives you more information. I got the model off this website:

Thanks again for any help you can offer.
    Greatly appreciated.

    Hi Lonny,

Well I’ve checked other appliances to the electrical output and they work. I’ve even checked with the adapter as I thought that was the problem.
Is there a way to tell if there is electrical communication going to the dishwasher?
