masterofnoneParticipant
I tend to favor simple answers over expensive and time consuming solutions. With Christmas coming it’d be the perfect time to buy some soft slippers and thick socks for the upstaris neighbors. For less than $50, the problem could be solved.
masterofnoneParticipantI’d hate to be the next guy to have to look at the wiring job and think to myself…OK, this guy saved a whole 96 cents by reusing the 3 way switch…what else am I going to find? Why wouldn’t you just purchase a new switch?
masterofnoneParticipantI’ve always been able to find what I need as long as you know the model information.
masterofnoneParticipantAre there any other symptoms, does the control leak water, do you feel anything catching when you move the shower handle, and the pipes near an exterior wall and possibly frozen?
masterofnoneParticipantWater leaks are never good; they can cause rot, mold and major issues if left unresolved. Regardless of the costs of the water, you need to find the root cause and repair. If you have individual shut offs, then turn them off and see if the problem continues in order to isolate the problem.
masterofnoneParticipantThe answers are endless, please provide more information if you are serious. How high, what type of material, do you want to try to salvage it, what is below etc.
masterofnoneParticipantMoaisture and pest pentration into the house would be my biggest concern. I would also be concerned about removing part of the wall into the crawlspace, which I’m assuming is a supporting wall…another BIG concern.
Are installing a premade metal fireproof safe into this space or are you building your own? It might be easier to conceal a false wall along the crawlspace, but it depends on what you are attempting to do.
masterofnoneParticipantIf you can’t stop the water, just catch it and pump it out.
masterofnoneParticipantIs there a reason why this is dropped? Maybe you could remove the ceiling and incorporate it into either the bedroom or bath?
If not, I know I could always use another closet or storage area in my house.
masterofnoneParticipantif the color of the new rail matches the rest of the deck, then go ahead and seal it. If it’s different, then you might wait until the color of matches better so it looks similar.
masterofnoneParticipantOccasionally I do get an Avenue A tracking cookie load attempt, which Spybot catches, when I use this site. It’s infrequent, but dioes happen on occasion.
masterofnoneParticipantTypically, just one coat is sufficient if you are using a primer designed for drywall. These thicker than other primers.
Here’s a tip I do when drywalling. After you are done priming, shine a work light along the wall and those hidden bumps and valleys will pop out. The shadows are much easier to see after the primer is applied.
masterofnoneParticipantlike me!!
masterofnoneParticipantIf you simply want to reduce the dust, just use a clean old rag and brush it down.
After I prime it, I always go back and fill in any remining holes & bumps and the resand and wipe down. It’s amazing how much you can miss taht shows up when you prime & paint.
