Mr. HK: I understand the function of the limit switch. But, wouldn’t the limit switch eventually cycle the blower off when the temperature cooled sufficiently? In my situation, tbe blower doesn’t shut down until I shut off the power at the furnace. After that the furnace may cycle on and off normally for one or two cycles, and then the problem appears again.

HKestenholz: thank you for the response. The furnace is barely 5 years old, there’s no apparent dust/dirt on the fan blades, and none of the ducts appear to be blocked. I routinely change the filters every three months according to the instructions (using Honeywell hepa filters). I have two zones, and I use the Honeywell Trol-A-Temp system. I also noticed that when the other zone kicks in, the blower will stop and the furnace will go through the startup routine, but when the heating cycle ends, the blower continues to run.

I had a circuit board replaced on my Frigidaire furnace back in February. Now, it seems that there’s a problem with the limit switch. The trouble light on the circuit board indicates a fault with the limit switch. I had the furnace guy replace the limit switch (we have a service contract with the local utility). Everything worked fine for a day or two, and now the problem has appeared again…the fan does not shut down at the end of the heating cycle. When the other zones kicks on (we have two zones), the fan will shut down, and the furnace goes through the normal startup routine, but at the end of the heating cycle the fan continues to run. Any ideas? Is this something that I can replace myself? I’m letting it go for now because it’s the end of the heating season. I’ll deal with it again in September.
