Ted: Thanks for the help. I’ve decided to remove all the mortar and mesh and have started. It’s pretty slow going with a 3# hammer and 30″ pry bar. Would a compressed-air “pogo stick” hammer with a spade tip work on this kind of chored? Or is there any other suggestion to make it easier?

I’ve read on another forum that you can use a “black light” to find cat urine stains and then use a mist of vinegar to neutralize the odor. Just spray it on, let it dry and then clean as you would normally.
