Water stains on popcorn ceiling.

I have just completed a remodel of my den which included replacing the ceiling drywall. I applied waterbased popcorn texture coating to finish the ceiling off. During heavy rains this weekend we discovered and repaired a small leak in the roof, but not before it saked and stained the ceiling. Is there any way to cover or get rid of the water stains and restore the original color to the ceiling? I really don’t want to have to replace the damaged section.
