water pooling on wood deck

My house has a wooden walkway outside the back door. The wood planks are spaced apart, so water drains.

However, some wood planks catches water (like a bowl) after a rain. I was thinking about drilling a hole (1/4 inch) where the water collects so it will drain.

Any suggestions? Is this a stupid idea? Should I just leave well enough alone?

did the same thing but they sometimes clog up but it works and saved the wood from further problems.
