The problem is there is no pipes near or around that bedroom. The only areas that are getting wet are right in the entrance and a little on the side base board, but no where else. And we have gone underneath the house and in that area no water and the wood area is not wet. That bedroom is at the back, and we can’t see water coming from outside. The room is next to the family room and between both of them is the rain gutter which is not stopped up, but could it be the problem. Becuase the water drops down and a puddle forms. What else can we look for. Or what can we get to use to determine a leak. Please help.

Thanks for all the feed back.

you could have a phantom leak. meaning it is ,say, leaking down from the roof onto one spot(or splashing up to the wall), travelling along a wall and then going down to the floor and travelling sideways. a major pain to find. try a dryer day and get out the hose to certain suspected areas. give a good soaking and check within 10 minutes for a leak.

I good way to test to see if its the rainwater gutter is to get some food colouring or even the stuff you use to make toilet water blue. Put it in a bucket of water and pour into the gutter. Make sure you put some plastic and towels on the carpet so you dont mess it up.
      Cheers

      Hi
I sure hope you can fix the water problem soon. You mentioned in your first letter that the puddle was near the enterance and a little on the side base board which sound like it drips on the floor and splashes up on the side board. There is one good way comfirm if the water is coming from the ceiling but most likely the bottom of the cornice. is lay a large sheet of plastic over the floor and up the wall were it gets wet then place a newpaper on top of the plastic were the puddle forms if the new paper gets wet you know for sure its coming from above. Also double check your flushing on the roof (and please be careful up there) because it dose brake down after years in the weather. Is your roof made of tiles because its a common problem at the roof ridge or hip is that the mortar between tiles cracks and crumbles away and in a cold climate a tile may be pushed out of place by snow, ice or strong winds.Or you might have a cracked tile. Hope this helps you out. Regards Noelene from Sdyney Australia PS. wish we could have some of your rain its bloody hot here.
