UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROLS NOT WORKING WITH MY TV

I have a Magnavox Model 27MS345S and recently the remote died. I bought an RCA Universal (Model RCR311W) and although it works with my DVD and VCR it will NOT work on my tv………Is there anyone who could help with codes that work? Maybe because the TV is newer then 5 yrs and there is nothing available? I would hate to keep returning these things just because my tv is a ****************** *L*
