      Are there any dos and don’ts regarding tiling over painted walls? I want to add tile to the area behind my stove. That wall sure gets grease-splattered.

      Can we tile right over the paint, or is some prep necessary?

      Prep like you would for repainting, i.e. clean with grease remover then lightly sand before spreading tile mastic.
