My husband and I had a sewer smell in the bedroom and thought maybe it was a dry trap since we never use the bathtub in the guest bath. We hadn’t used it in about 6 months, so we took our showers in there one day and I also poured some bleach down that drain. Now the smell seems to have died down, but I can still smell it a little in the master bathroom. How do I know if something is still wrong? Could it have been something else? We live on a slab, so we don’t want any major repairs to have to be done, but also can’t tell. If a pipe were cracked or damaged, wouldn’t the smell not have died down?

      Thanks! Denise <><

Denise, the dry trap was probably the cause, and it may take a while for the odor to completely dissipate; give it a couple weeks before getting too concerned.
