We decided to replace our old tub with a new one – exact same size. We noticed when we pulled out the old tub there was a large rectangle of 1-1 and a half inch thick piece of styrofoam on the bottom of the tub. Now that we have installed the new tub, there is a gap underneath the tub between the tub and the floor,so the tub does not sit flush on the floor. When my 170 lb son stands in the tub, there is some give – the tub moves slightly and the overflow pipe seems to now be at a slight angle (we cut out some of the wall to the adjoining room to get to the pipe.) Should the tub sit square on the floor and is that why there was a piece of stryofoam under the last tub? Thanks for your help!

You must have a fiberglass tub and most manufacturers recommend setting them in mortar.
