In my bathroom I want to replace the florescent light which in turn is connected to my toggle switch in the medicine chest. It shows 2 wires connected to the transformer..a red and blue coming from the switch/ outlet socket. The red is connected to a black wire going to the transformer and the blue is going to the far end of the 22″ inch straight bulb. Obviously, the red is the hot…but the blue wire confuses me. Does it mean its the neutral white? Also, i do not want to replace the switch/outlet, mainly because its inbedded in my medicine chest, that its too bothersome to replace. But hoping that those 2 wires connected to a incadestant bulb fixture could take the place of the florescent bulb.

that transformer is called a ballast.the red and blue are both hot wires.
you would need to remove it completly or disconnect it completly and connect the incandescent fixture to the hot and neutral.
