I removed what was an easy job in my bathroom of a wallpaper that had sort of netting. The shiny part was attached to it. I was going to paint that wall, but whatever is on it ( drywall ) doesn’t hide the paint so I stopped. There doesn’t seem to be adhesive, but maybe some netting? I don’t want to wash it off if possible cause it is a dry wall…any ideas? I think it was calle wall tex or something like that..it was on that bathroom wall when i bought the house 20 years ago..so it must have been at least 30 to 40 years old.

Whenever we remove wallpaper, if we can’t get the surface extremely clean, we coat the wall with an oil primer to seal it.

After it dries, we lightly skim the walls with a good lightweight joint compound to smooth the walls.

Once the compound is dry, we sand, reprime, and paint. Hope this helps!
