A garage was added on to my house and my previous garage has now become a pass through/dog bedroom. I would like to improve the look of the concrete floor and thought of painting it. It has a smooth finish, uneven in color and spotty looking. What is the best way to prep this and paint it for a more finished look? What are the best products to use? Will this painted floor then become a maintenance problem with chipping and peeling?

You are going to want to acid wash the floor first. This removes the dirt/oil and opens the pores. Use an epoxy paint that will bond to the concrete rather than lay on top of it. That way you won’t have a problem with chipping and peeling. Good luck.
