Hello, I need a Kenmore sewing machine manual. I called the Kenmore line and they said they don’t make the one I need anymore. I have a model number 158.17540. I am also wondering if this is a good machine. It is from 1969. The lady who gave it to me only used it 2 times. She just never had the time to do much sewing. I do time period sewing and need a good machine. So if this isn’t any good I need to get a new machine. Thank you to any one who can help!!!

Hi Robin,
Older Sewing Machines like your Kenmore where built to last forever. That was built in a time when they got a 20 year warranty. Now you only get 1 year warranty.
Before you start using it get it serviced. It is really important you do because you could damage the moving parts. The oil would have dryed up and dust would have settled in it.
When you have done that you will have that machine for years to come, as long as you don’t mind a basic working sewing machine with straight stitch and zig zag only.
There are some sites that sell photo copy of old machines. I found this site with a pictures of a sewing machines around your age. If you take a look you might find it. Also if you do a search in google images you may find your machine.

Jayshunee, go to this website, you can buy a copy of the manual you need from them. Look under 158.1754, the final zero is not needed. The website is
