Hi, I just found out that my A/C line was frozen. I did turn off my A/C and let fan run to thaw the line. I learned that this could be cause of low freon.

      1) how can i test it?
      2) how much freon needed to charge system? I mean how many lb?
      3) what else do i need to check? i do change filter regularly…

I called my friend who does repair on A/C. I am curious and need to learn something. Please let me know if there is video that can show step by step guide to charge A/C for home unit.

      1) how can i test it?
++ Obtain a charging gauge set, learn what to look for using a factory charging chart for that make and model.
      2) how much freon needed to charge system? I mean how many lb?
++ As many pounds as required by the factory charging specifications altered by the superheat readings for the weather.
      3) what else do i need to check? i do change filter regularly…
++ If you are going to study the information learned over a year or so course in refrigeration technology, you would also learn to shut off the electricity to check all wires, clean and tighten all connections and test the electrical component amps and voltages. Otherwise, you would do as the factory warrantee and owner instructions say to “call a qualified professional”.

Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made.
