I have a new furnace and central AC and the duct work was recently cleaned. when i use my AC a musty smell comes out. My basement is a little musty and i use a dehumidifier, but i think the smell is coming from basement. will cutting a vent in the basement return turn over the musty air and eliminate the smell.

      More than likely not.
Opening a window on one side and putting a fan to blow air out the other would do more. That would be better than smelling dungeon for weeks.

Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made.

you should not have a cold air intake open to the basement,it should be a closed system,or seperated if there is living space down there.
