Estimate Linear feet based on the size of your home.
Use this chart to find out how many linear feet your goods may take up. Then include the linear feet on the quote request for loading and/or unloading services. Assume approximately 200 cubic feet of loading space for each room in your house. Additional bulky items will take up more space.
If you have this many bedrooms in your home OR If you have this much square footage =(LINEAR FEET)
Then you’ll fill approximately this much of an 8 ft wide by 9 ft tall trailer =Cubic Feet of Loading Space
Studio Apartment (or) 600 sq ft 5′ 320
1 Bedroom (or) 800 sq ft 6′ 432
1-2 Bedroom (or) 1,200 sq ft 10′ 720
2-3 Bedroom (or) 1,200-1,500 sq ft 12′ 864
3 Bedroom (or) 1,500 – 1,800 sq ft 16′ 1,152
3 Bedroom Plus (or) 1,800 – 2,000 sq ft 19′ 1,368
4 Bedroom (or) 2,000 sq ft & beyond* 28′ 2,016
4 Bedroom Plus (or) 3,000 sq ft & beyond* 42′-56′ 3,024-4,032*These are rough estimates. Multiple trailers may be needed.

Estimating Linear feet based on a Rental Truck
To get a quote from us for loading and or unloading, we ask that you give us the Linear Feet for a Trailer. Linear feet will hold more household goods than a Rental Truck’s dimensions. If you don’t convert to Linear Feet to estimate your costs, your quote may be much higher than it should be.
Rental Truck Size Cubic Feet of Loading Space =(LINEAR FEET)
Equivalent space in an 8 ft wide by 9 ft tall trailer
5 foot truck 208 cubic feet 3-4 linear feet
10 foot truck 368 cubic feet 5-6 linear feet
14 foot truck 669 cubic feet 9-10 linear feet
17 foot truck 849 cubic feet 11-12 linear feet
24 foot truck 1350 cubic feet 18-19 linear feet
26 foot truck 1538 cubic feet 21-22 linear feetNote: These figures are for estimation only.
If you are unsure about this table, please call us at 800-808-8842, or mention this in the comments section of your quote request.

Linear feet is a dimension in one direction, like a length of something.
So to convert your 28′ x 8′ trailer to linear feet, you need to get rid of one of the dimensions. For instance, you would say, “I have 28 linear feet of 8′ wide trailer”, or odd but still correct is, “I have 8 linear feet of 28′ long trailer.

Linear feet is the distance in feet from point A to point B. In your case the trailer is 28 linear feet long ‘OR” 28 feet long. Width does not enter into the neasurement. ALSO, it is 8 linear feet wide. Perhaps you’re asking of the area in which case the square footage is 28ft times 8ft equals 224sqft.
