i have a bock basement some of the blocks have soft spots
when it rains the water pours in
we were told it is the way the landscape is but will just slopping the land away from the house help or do i need to dig it all up seal the foundation and put in drainage tiles?

First of all have someone get on roof and inspect your gutters and check your downspouts to make sure they arent clogged. Make sure you have enough pipe along the ground to transport the water away from the house (Mimimum 4-5 ft). to have been told right about the landscaping ..it has to slop away from the house. You have to think that during a storm thousands of gallons of water comes off your roof and yard heading to your fondation and the thing you have to do is redirect it.
