I have two separate rooms-my den and a room that used to be a three season porch. When you go from one room to the other there is a leak coming from above at the joint between the two rooms. I have been in this house for twenty-five years and this is the first time this has happened. The rain was blowing sideways and it was quite a storm! Is it possible that if we don’t get another severe storm like this, I won’t get a leak again? My friend who is a plumber is going to take a look-his initial thought is that it is the flashing.

      Thanks!

This is not the sort of issue which can be resolved from afar. An on-site inspection is the only way to determine the cause of the leak and what should be done to prevent future leaks. As a general rule when you have a roofing/ceiling leak, you should check the obvious causes first such as clogged gutters/downspouts, or visible damage to the roof.
