      Hello,
We are going to remove our old baseboard and then paint the walls. We then want to install new baseboard. I am just confused about how we get it so that it is between the wall and the carpet. Do we need to pull up the carpet where it meets the wall and install the molding?
      Thanks,
      Maureen

You need to put the baseboard first, then the strips for the carpet then stretch the carpet to the baseboard. I am guessing it is bunching up because it is too long, trimming it just a bit with a knife might help.

the baseboard in a carpeted room should be installed with a 3/8 gap between the floor and the bottom of the baseboard. this gives a space for the carpet ends to be tucked into during installation to give that neat appearance. if the baseboard is touching the floor underlayment, then the cut ends of the carpet will show.

dont pull up carpet. if the carpet is stretched and seated where it belongs, set the baseboard on top of it, touching it just tight enough so there is no gap between the carpet and base. You dont want to pinch the carpet between the base and floor, makes it very difficult to restretch or replace.
