Hotwater Issues

I’ve got a GE 50 gal HWH and the users complain its running out of hot water real fast. Powered off, disconnected leads to the elements and checked continunity ~12.5 ohms on both upper and lower. I assume they are okay.

When I took the covers off the elements the insulation was soaking wet and there is some mositure around the bottom of the heater. The tank was sweaty and all. No external leakage apparent.

Any suggestions????

Check the white plastic incoming water dip tube inside the tank. They have been known to fail, causing short-feeding of incoming cold water through the top of the tank and out. They are inexpensive.
