I recently had a new electric hot water heater installed. Since the replacement, when I turn on the hot water at any faucet I get a stream that acts as though there is air in the system – spuddering everytime I turn it on. Now it has started hammering when I turn off the water. The plumber says I have to have the supply lines replaced and several forums have recommended turning on all the faucets at once and let run for approx. five min. Tried the forum recommended actions and no joy, didn’t work.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Why did the plumber suggest that you replace the supply lines? What is the problem with the existing plumbing? Did this problem exist before the water heater was replaced?
