  I purchased 3 SL-5403-WH Security Floodlights for my home from the local Lowes. I installed one on the corner of my house (40′) flipped the switch. nothing. thought maybe it needed to be darker. nothing. next day i went up with a volt-meter, removed the caps, the twisted wire registered 120V. OK. bad one. over the coarse of the next 4 days, i continued the dance (feeling like an idiot) with the other 2 lamps. nothing. they all registered 120V. took them back to Lowes, and replaced with a competetor. all 3 new ones worked the first time.

  that’s why it pays to test before installing.

  I had the same experience. It turns out they are dusk/down lights. The box is not marked as such! Very very very annoying…
