  i have to rooms with remote units and i what them to work seperately i tried changing the 1234 switch in one of the remotes but it did not work is there something else i need to do

  You have the changes the code in the receivers also.
  
  Often they are under the canopy. That is the cover at the top of the fan that is next to the ceiling.
