Having a problem connecting my GFCI with a switch in my bathroom.

My GFCI has 1 outlet and also 1 switch that controls a light and an exhaust fan.

I connected my line correctly for the receptacle (the reset works fine) but I can’t seem to get the switch to work.

There are two black wire leads on the back of the GFCI that are supposedly “switch leads” but when I wire them according to the directions – I get nothing. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I also tried to wire the fan and light to the load side of the GFCI but now there is no way to turn them off. The switch is inoperable in this position. So I removed the GFCI and re-installed the old switch/outlet. The instructions that came with the GFCI are of little help. Any advice from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
