I have a plug/outlet in the kitchen near the sink. I have just updated and put in a GFCI there. Next to that outlet was a switch which runs to the outlet plug under the sink in the cabinet to plug in the garbage disposl, thereby the switch to run the disposal. Every time I turn the switch on to turn on the disposal the GFCI trips. Can this be wired and if so how?
* It could be that the GFCI is doing its job.
* Disconnect the Disposal. Check each wire from the disposal to copper ground. There should be infinite resistance indicating no short to case.
* If you have resistance to ground, replace the Disposal, it is dangerous!
* Good luck… Adios,,, Jasper…
