I have a nearly 50 yr-old Caloric gas oven and the round metal grates (black) that fit into the drip pans are worn and rusted. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to bring them back to respectable shape. Someone told me I could paint the drip pans with high temperature engine paint, but I don’t know what to use on the grates. Are there any polishes or paints that might do the trick?

      Thanks for your help.

P.S. I would buy replacement parts but they just don’t make them in the size I need anymore.

There are companies which can reporcelain burner grates and/or fabricate totally new ones if need be. Check some of the sites linked in the “Restoration” section of the ‘Appliance Links’ pages at my site linked below.

I have my doubts any “paint” would last long in such an application.
