That bottom slot is a feature exclusive to In-Sink-Erator built disposals. As RocketScientist said, the OP’s model does not appear to have such a feature so it was unlikely made by ISE.
On models without such a feature using some device from the top can be tried as illustrated at the following link and described at the second:
