Gap on top of garage door

Just bought a house. It has those multipanel garage doors which runs on a track. There is a Genie garage door opener.

The no-so-smart person who installed the garage door left a gap, about 1 inch wide on the garage door at the top. From the looks of it, with the garage door moving and all, I cannot apply a piece of wood to cover it up. I need to appy some plastic/rubber thing.

Question. What do I ask for in the hardware store. What do they call the rubber/plastic strips to seal a one inch gap? Thanks.

my garage door is out of alinment and will not close or open. it hit a cabinet door on the way down, after repairing the weather stripping on the bottom of the door. how do i realine it?
