  The furnace hums inbetween cycles, when it should be off. The burner and blower are off.
  What is happening? Will it “burn” out or something?
  If this is a transformer, should it be fixed now?

  it is always powered. Nothing to worry

  Yes, you really have to find out the MAKE and MODEL to get good answers. There IS more than one machine made.
