French Drain in Crawl Cement Necessary

Hello.

I am putting a French Drain in my Crawl Space due to water issues. Is it necessary to cement over the stone or can the stone remain exposed?

I have never seen an interior French Drain which was not cemented over. The current contractor gave me an estimate with both cement and without the cement.

we rarely place & finish concrete in crawl spaces UNLESS thr crawl space is presently covered w/concrete.
