* I’m looking to install a fireplace insert.
* The diagrams show the insert connected to a round steel pipe going to the top of the chimmney.
* My fireplace has a square opening with a damper going accross the square opening.
* Question: Will the installers have to demolish that part of the chimney to install a round exhaust?
* Thanks in advance…
* Adios… Jasper.
Hey Jasper……Unless there’s enough room for the pipe to get past the open damper(unlikely)……..it will have to be removed……I had to have one “cut” out before (oxy/acl torch)…
If in the future you want to remove the insert a chimneytop damper operated by a Stainless Steel cable thru the flue can easily be installed….
