I have a 2 draw steel file cabinet and the lock will not open with the key, it had a spring while turning the key before it broke when I turn the lock open, now it does nothing? How do I open the lock?

If it is a cheap cabinet you can use a hammer and screwdriver or other bar and just pound the lock into the cabinet till you only have a hole.

Or if you want to continue to use the cabinet without the lock. You can drill it out.

Or you can call a lock smith and they will open and repair.

If the cabinet were open you could just replace the lock from the back side.

Call a locksmith. I don’t think the paper clip will unlock it. Moving the paper clip around while trying to get it unlocked,you risk having it break off in the lock. Good luck.
