      Whenever our washing machine is running the lights in the rest of the house flicker and dim? What could be the cause?

      most likely your service is old and wore out and needs to be updated.washer needs to be on it’s own seperate circuit independent of other things like lights and plugs.have it checked out.

      * The wiring is not of the proper guage. The smaller the wire, the less current it can carry.
      * As lg said, it’s best to run the washing machine on a different circuit.
      * With the lights dimming, it means the current to the washing machine is maxing out for that size wire. Therein lies another problem, The wires will heat up and possibly ignite the wire insulation.
