I want to attach a block of pressure treated wood to my slate roof. I want to secure it with 4 bolts. This way I can attach my satellite dish to the block of wood.

I just bought a english tudor house which has a brand new Virginia slate roof on it.

How do I safely drill holes for the bolts through slate without damaging or cracking it?

      You don’t.
You do NOT want to drill thru your slate roof under any circumstance.

Find another location to mount your satellite dish prefferably to an eave thru the siding or on it’s own pole if you must, but not to the slate roof.

Do not drill holes in a new beautiful slate roof.
Do not mount a satellite dish nor a block of wood to a slate roof.
Not only unsightly, but a leak and a crack are 100% probabilities.
Go figure a better way. Mount the satellite dish somewhere else.
A southern facing wall is recommended for mounting the dish.
