drain clogged with object

My daughter accidently dropped a shampoo bottle cap down the bathtub drain and it is draining very slowly. We tried to remove it using a snake and also the plunger. The pipe (seen from the access behind the wall next to the tub) appears to go directly down into the slab. Is there any way we can get an object like this out ourselves? What would a plumber do in this situation?
