So I have a crawlspace that needs re-insulating because our 30 year old insulation is falling down. Looking at Johns Manville packing they say R30 is the best, however, their lit says R19 is right for our climate (Northwest US). Online tools say R19 is okay.

      So what do I use? R19? R21? or R30?

      Thanks

      What do you use?
You use what your local building code says you just use.

Insulation manufactuers typically exaggerate the insulation needs for those in a particular area in order to sell mor einsulation than is required.

Your building code office will have strict minimum insulation guidelines as far as insulation is all parts of your house is concerned and is the only one that needs to be obyed and complied with as far as insulation is concerned..
