commode installation

i am going to install a commode on a new floor. (new construction)how far from the wall should the center of the hole is required?

The standard offset from the wall for a toilet (is that the same as a commode?)is 12 inches from the finished wall. This will leave approximately 1 inch of clearance between the toilet tank and the wall.
Toilets are available with less offset, but are not standard.
