Clothes Washer Burning Smell?

My clothes washer today stopped working in the middle of a cycle and there was a burning type of odor? A little while later the washer would work but the smell was still lingering. I didn’t start it back up. Any thoughts of what this could be?

Sounds like your motor is going. Or short in the wiring on loose connection. Unplug the washer and remove the access panel perhaps you can see what’s wrong. Could also be a drive or pump belt.
