I have used just regular ol white glue and leave pressure on it till it drys. That was in an out of the way place. You could certainly use a contact cement too. Make sure the nap is running the right way and it all fluffs up right before gluing it down. The best way to get around this is to maybe stop smoking in the house, but then you dont get the changing of colors of the carpet and walls along with the fresh smell when you walk in the room. Just kidding of corse.
